Our story

Tensira is a love story between two worlds.

Founded in Paris in 2009, Tensira is a home textiles and fashion accessories brand created by Tuulia Mäkinen Diallo and Hamidou Diallo — a Finnish artistic director and a Guinean entrepreneur, united by a shared passion for beauty, authenticity and sustainability.

Our belief from day one: true beauty inspires more beauty.

Living craftsmanship
Every Tensira piece is hand-woven and hand-dyed in our workshops in the Republic of Guinea, by artisans who carry on centuries-old techniques. Our fabrics are 100% natural OEKO-TEX certified cotton. Our indigos are dyed using plant-based pigments — no compromise on the environment, no compromise on quality.

Design between two cultures
Tuulia brings to each collection the quiet elegance of Nordic design. Paris, where she lives and works, sharpens her sense of sophistication. Guinea breathes in the warmth, the colour, the soul. The result? Stripes, checks, tie-dyes — timeless, universal, instantly recognisable.

A commitment, not a marketing argument
Tensira actively supports West African artisan communities. Every purchase helps sustain a rare craft and build a lasting local economy. Because beautiful textiles should never cost the planet — or the people who make them — what they bring to you.

« Excluded from globalization, African handcrafts risk to disappear. This is why it’s important to bring to market this unique know-how, transmitted from generation to generation »  Hamidou Diallo

Tensira is the expression of this Guinean ancestral know-how of weaving and dying indigo, and Scandinavian design.
